New to overclocking, something odd.

Thread Starter
Hey, I've got a BFGNF4U motherboard and the 3000+ Athlon 64 Venice core cpu. Plenty of cooling as well... Corsair DDR400 RAM.

A while back I was starting to OC my computer..... I figured I'd start out low... Changed from 200x9 to 210x9 or something like that.... Then 215x9.... Then 220x9..... Then I tried 225x9, computer acted odd.

Well I then realized that the memory management was different on A64s than I thought. I at first figured you could just tell it what you wanted it to be and that it'd stay the same, so I'd not have to do anything when upping the FSB. Well then I realized I was trying to run the RAM well over it's 400mhz... So I changed it back to 200 for the day and went to look up how to do the memory management on it.

Well then later on I went back and set it for the next ratio... 5:6 I think? So I tried to do 230..... Well the computer wouldn't start, it just turned on and spun its fans. So I reset the cmos.... Upped the voltage a little... Still nothing.

So what could be the problem? Someone had mentioned adjusting memory timings to me, but I don't see why that would matter so much when it's not really being overclocked.... So any suggestions?

Thanks.

Very simple fix, change your HTT multiplier to 4.
And, make sure you overclock each component individually, and not together. That way you can find the maximum speed of each, then you can set dividers and multipliers to maximize everything together..use this little calculator also..

PCI-E and PCI locks pal... The PCI-E frequency should be locked at 100 and PCI should be locked at 33.33. Also, as tytlyf has stated, set the multi to 4x and as u cross 250, change it to 3. Please post which model of Corsair u've.
