Need some temperature help... - Page 2

The room is around 65 F. Right now, no side cover on, and the fan running at 5600 RPM (highest setting) my CPU temp is around 38-39C. With my side cover on, there is an 80mm intake fan almost directly centered onto the CPU, so it's getting cold air. I would say that the CPU is about 70% covered with as5. I placed a BB sized dot on the center of the heatspreader and let the heatsink spread it.

Edit: The heatsink itself isn't warm to the touch at all... could I be having temp sensor issues?? Bios is reading 38-39C as well...

Ok, so in the last 14 hours I've done alot! I flashed my bios to the newest version. Which didn't help much at all. I decided to re-apply the AS5, maybe this time spreading it, making sure it was much lighter on the application than last time, so I had a nice thing layer on. Then I noted that the base of my Venus 12 was incrediblely rough. You could feel the surface breaks with your fingers. So I spent 2 hours lapping my heatsink. And there was my problem. My temps have happily dropped to 36C on idle. Reps and thanks to all that had input.

Im having the same problems that you are, my idle temps are like 30-33* and then like 44-47* full load. Using stock 3700+ with the venus 12 HSF.
