How to setup crossfire?

Thread Starter
Okay so my dual 5770's are arriving today, and I plan to set them up in a crossfire.

However, for the wiring, is it just completely normal as two video cards would be installed, just connected with the crossfire cable?

Also, theres two DVI, HDMI, and a displayport (port?) on each, does it matter which one of the 4 DVI I plug into my monitor?

Thanks!

Wiring?

Just plug in the power connector, connect them with crossfire cable.

Use the top graphics card, I always do. Might not make a difference... idk

Yeah, prolly for cooling sake if one takes more load than the other?

Pretty sure you have to connect the monitor to the top card...

Other than that, it's totally simple. Just plug in the second card, attach xfire bridge (or two if you like) and fire up the rig, the driver will install for card 2 automatically. Then reboot and enable xfire if it doesn't happen automatically (which it usually does). A few seconds and screen flashes later, you're ready to rock.

So, I've been doing a lot of research on the board and I keep getting mixed answers. Since this is the newest post I've found covering xfire I'll post it here. Do I need one xfire cable or two? And why? OP how is your xfire 5770's working? Did you use one or two xfire cables? Thanks.

You only need 1. However people put 2 a lot but this is purely for looks.

Same here. I selected in Bios PCI-EX 2 as first Video. Call me old fashioned but I am doing anything possible to reduce temperature on the top card. I imagine that if I am giving video output through the second, I might reduce the stress on the first. The drawback? Everytime I flash the bios i need to go to card one, select again PCI-EX2 as first. Other than that, it works splendid.
