That's a nice build. Only thing I would change is the power supply. I personally would go with a Corsair, but that's just personal preference. Overal a solid build. Quite similar to mine actually .

I have the opportunity (with more searching) to switch out the PSU for one of these instead for marginal difference:

I agree, that looks nice. I second changing out the PSU. The 650tx is nice.

You may also want to look into a aftermarket HSF if you plan to overclock at all.

I think you should check out this ram http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820145263

it's 4gb ddr3 1600 for $108.49 vs the one you picked which is 4gb ddr3 1333 for $115.99.

p.s. How will your parents know that he oc'd it ?

I personally would opt for a i5 750. Similar cost and overall a better performer. That and you also get Turbo boost with that will auto OC when it needs to.
may want to read this... (if you pref AMD over Intel then nm)
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/819/1

I also would opt for the Corsair PSU. They are just rock solid, that 650 is modest. Th

I picked up a G.Skill 1600 for the same price. I had a bad experience with OCZ and Corsair, and nothing but good ones with G.skill so I went with those

I did a few and AMD seemed better bang for his buck TBH. I am also going with the Corsair 650hx and updating the list now

Edit: switched PSU, switched RAM, switched case (bro preferes the CM690 )
