Using 4 - 512mb G.Skill

Thread Starter
I am currently using 2 of the 512mb sticks in the computer. But If I stick all 4 of them in there, I thought my mobo is supposed to default them in single channel? But when I opened the CPU-Z, it says Dual. Also, how come when using all 4 512mb sticks I can't OC it as far? I am @ 11X264 but if I add all 4 sticks of ram in the mobo I can only go to 250 or so? Main concern is if the ram just can't be stable with all 4 of the 512mb sticks running at the 1:1 divider? Thanks, Micah

Are the second two sticks the same as the first two? If not, then all 4 sticks will be limited to what the slowest memory can do. You can't run certain sticks at 275Mhz and others at 250Mhz, they all run in sync.

I'm pretty sure that the NF4 supports dual channel when all 4 RAM slots are in use, am I correct?
Please, correct my if I'm wrong.

Correct..

As for your memory, your running it 2T so you might see a slowdown in preformance and ocing vs when you had just 2x512 @ 1T... Try running a small devider to free up your OCing potential.

yeah, you can run 4 sticks in dual channel... they just have to be at 2T instead of 1T and depending on your cpu you may have to default them to DDR333 instead of DDR400

and you will not get as high of an OC w/ 4 sticks of RAM because 4 sticks stress the memory controller more than 2 sticks do.
