help with a dark screen

the moniter that i hav now is kinda screwed cause on max brightness it is pretty dark(dark as in cant play games like doom3 and quake cause of darkness)and ive tried the ati control center and that wont help for 3d(it works sumtimes for desktop). with my old nvidia card the drivers and stuff that came with that worked for all(desktop and any game)so can sumone tell me if there is a brightening program or sumthin to save me from havi to get a new moniter

p.s.i hav also tried radlinker brightness tool and omega drivers and they didnt work

Just to make sure you're understanding correctly the 2 controls, Brightness is the level of the blackest black and contrast is the level of the whitest white. With that said, if you right click on your desktop,left click properties,click settings---->advanced......you should have a "Color" tab where you can increase/decrease your gamma coming out of the video card. This will increase the general light level. Btw, you need to set it for the Full Screen 3D, not desktop.

um didnt work and i already had it the game gamma same as desktop gamma and the games were still dark. and with the nvidia drivers i put up the brightness and not gamma so do u hav a solution. btw i was settin it for full screen 3d and that is the one that wont work so yeah

You mean you turned the in game gamma up and it still was too dark? If so, I'm sorry to say that it sounds like you have an aged tube and the light output simply isn't high enough anymore. My only last suggestion would be to search around google and see if you can find out how to enter "service mode" of your monitor. If you can, you'll be able to increase the brightness beyond the "100" allotted in user mode.

thx for the help bit 1 thing i dont get is why did it work for nvidia and not ati and also nvidia was alot easier all u had to do was slide 1 bar and click save with this u hav to ajust 2 bars and then it dont work so would u know why
