How to: Setup SSD boot drive with secondary Hard disc optimization - Page 12

All working and running beautifully WHAT A CHAMP
this guide was so simple my wife could do it lol and the benafits are excellant i can now use my ssd as the boot drive it wanted to be and install everything onto my 2nd drive

I will say though i disabled my Page file for my ssd and made the 2nd drive deal with that and also disabled my indexing on the ssd via services just follow the guide i have put here. http://blog.corsair.com/?p=3989 (this is a corsair drive but i cant see why it would NOT be the same for all) please correct me if im wrong.

quick question IF i were to get a PCI sata card and another 60gig ssd will it work well for raid with the 60gig i have or would I be best to just run them on the sata from my P6X58D-E raid controller?

I only ask as i hear lots of bad things about slow down in read write speeds with raid on ssd as it dosnt support TRIM

Is it important to do this with a fresh Windows install?

Edit: Read the thread, looks like that is a yes.

So I followed this guide exactly, but everytime i log in to my profile now it tells me i'm using a temporary profile and all changes made will not be saved. here's exact message. "You have been logged on with a temporary profile. You cannot access your files and files created in this profile will be deleted when you log off" Yup so now I cant save anything.

Any clue to what's going on?

try:

1) logging off the temp profile and going into the correct one
2) go into the registry and delete the effected profile's subfolder under HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\ProfileList
3) http://social.answers.microsoft.com/...7-d8824f371f2a

as far as getting your old profile .. i have no clue .. BOL

In step 15: are you only modifying the values in that ProfileList folder?
