How to: Setup SSD boot drive with secondary Hard disc optimization - Page 13

Okay, I must have made an error somewhere along the way. I followed all of the steps and finished up with deleting the first "temporary" user name (the one you named pro). and now after logging onto my own personal user name, windows is telling me that I am logged on to a temporary user. I also have this temp. user folder in my "X:\\Users" folder

"default" folder is missing from your "users" folder

can u explain what step #15 is for? while searching through the registry i still see some folders pointed to c:\\users\\pro for some reason. i figure i didn't need to change those because i no longer use the "pro" user account.

i'm at work so i'll get more specifics when i get home

so maybe i did this wrong .. but sometimes when i'm installing programs, the data they use is still user name "pro" and not the actual profile i created.

i did foobar after moving the folders over and logged back into the "pro" account .. would this cause issues? i logged off the "pro" account and then logged into the correct account i wanted to use.

just curious .. if it did then maybe i'll just reformat again.

also with people doing this method, are you able to get a WEI score? i'm unable to because it errors out of disc performance.

Hmm, not sure how I missed that. Is the default folder necessary? I created a new user name and everything seems to be fine now, no more "temporary profile" warnings from windows.

please follow step 3 to see and move the default folder.

it contains proper info to create a user profile

please follow step 11 assuming all other steps have been carefully followed.

with the new user created the dummy profile shouldn't be relevant. in other words you should be logged into your desired profile, and not the dummy "pro" profile.

Nice post Shirza, and I urgently need to make this mod to my setup. But you mention that it's 'best' to do on a clean install.. is there a way I can effect this transfer of the 'User' files to my HD from the SSD now that I have Win7 running and other apps installed in there? Silly me, I was so eager to get going that I didn't consider there may be a difficulty in separating my "Documents, temps, downloads, etc" from my C drive, after the fact..

Or shall I just re-install Windows and follow the steps in the guide.

Thanks in advance for the help.
