However, some as stated in the quote above, didn't have success. I am not very experienced in this area, so I will just be following the guide step by step. Will I be successful? I don't want to mess anything up.

You shouldn't have any problems following the guide step by step and don't rush trhough any step. Don't worry, you won't mess anything up, worst case scenario you will have to re-install windows again.

Does any such guide exist for dual booting Ubuntu or Mint? I've already optimized my SSD / HDD combo with OP's recommendations, but now want to dual boot. However, I want to have the same thing occurring with Ubuntu or Mint, where my profile and application folders are located on my HDD while just the OS is installed on the SSD.

Can anyone help me with that?

Mount your /home profile on your harddrive and let everything else (on /) be on your SSD. If you have enough RAM you should mount /tmp on a tmpfs as well.

Try creating a thread in the Linux section instead.

Should I install my antivirus in step 2 or wait until the very end?

Honestly, this "install all updates" step is a bit misleading. I think it's best to finish up the guide and then install the rest of the stuff.

this is prob the best, but in case you have any drivers that need to be installed. software and windows updates prob best for after:thumb:

In step 10, I navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion, but ProfileList doesn't seem to be in there. What should I do?
