Heh heh yeah indeed it does. You can install programs and applications wherever you want though, just create a Program Files (x86) and Program Files directory on your mechanical hard drive and change the drive letter from C: to D: (say) in the program installer. That's all you'd end up doing with this method or the other method anyway. The only difference is the appdata temporary folder which IMO you have ample space for on a 60Gb drive anyway.

As I say it's down to personal choice anyway so if you're set on this route good luck to you Sadly I can't help you specifically on that issue but I'm sure someone will come along and help in due course.

Bugger ! I only glanced at the link and thought it was specific to my docs etc. I will hold out a bit longer for some help with this(because I'm stubborn) but it's good to know there is hope if I give up hope.

In step 7 you say move the "default" folder does this mean the one with the dummy profile name ? or is there a folder called"default" ?
I have tried this several times now(doing a clean install each time as I dont trust myself to correctly change things back, this has taken a few days and without help i am just going to bin the SSD) when i try to move the folder with the name of dummy profile there are always files that cannot be moved because they are in use. The net result of this is at the end I cannot log in to the new profile. I am going to (again) do a fresh install and hope for some assistance by the time it's complete.
One other thing , not sure if it matters but the SSD runs through a Rocket 600ser sata6gb/s controller
There is a folder called default. This contans all the proper files for windows to creat a new user. if you delete or fail to do this, when you go to log in for the first time you will get no background or anything for that matter.

in users folder if you have show hidden files on you will see the default folder along with the other users folders on the OS

GL!

in step 7 there is 2 Default folders, one is grayed out and visible because of showing hidden files, and the other has a lock icon on it and it says you do not have permission access is denied. i moved the one that was grayed out and left the one with the lock.

did i move the right ones?

Yes because all the default folder does is hold the info to create a profile.

secondly i really hope your doing this on a clean install. deal with you backups or whatevers going on after youre done modding the OS
post #90 of 739
yeah it's a clean install and all my backup is just drivers and patches for games which i will deal with later. ive got it working now so thank you all
