Why Won"t My Pc Pick Up The Harddrive??????

I've been trying to get my computer to work for ever and no luck . I wanted to clean install the harddrive with xp but for some reason after I formatted , I went to install and it said no harddrives instlalled on your computer. I need some serious help and anything is greatley appreciated. I have a mach speed K8M8MS mobo, right here http://machspeed.com/v64_k8m8ms.htm I would appreciate any help I can get.

Look on the bak of the drive, and make sure that the jumpers are set so that the drive is a master.

No, on the back of the hard drive where you plug in power, IDE, ect, there should be a series of jumpers there that dictate wether the drive is a master, salve, RAID, ect. You want to set it to Master if it isn't already there.

no the harddrive itself, it has a diagram on it showing which jumper position is master, make sure the jumpers are set to that position

ok Its a SATA hard drive if that helps, I had it working before i reinstalled XP

OK, when you first start the install of XP, and it's at the driver loading screen (the first DOS looking one, blue background), go ahead and do the option for 3rd party SATA driver.

if you already have a master then put that new one on slave, or the other way.

I did the option fo rthe 3rd party driver. I have the mobo cd, but how do I know what drivers to put on a floppy? I tried a bunch and it always says one is missing, any ideas?

Email the manufacturer of your mobo/chipset and tell them the problem, then just ask for the SATA driver.
