X2 3800+ oc thread, new developments at 2.6, need tweaking tips.... - Page 3

You should find the limits of your cpu and memory individually instead of at the same time...it'll be much easier albeit a longer process.

http://www.overclock.net/overclock.p...king-guide.htm

However, you have TCCD ram, so it should be able to run a high enough htt at a 1:1 divider to max out your cpu. If your ram can't stabiliy keep up with the 1:1 divider I would run loosen the timings to maybe 3-3-3-8 first before i changed the divider.

Its not so much those first four timmings because this ram is spd timed at 300mhz@2.5-4-4-8, which is what I have the timings set for now. The problem lies with the other 20 or so ram timmings in the DFI bios (you know, the ones I have no idea what they do, yeah, those). I need colin or ncsa or one of those other DFI ram gurus to help me out.

Ok, dual prime stable at 260x10@1.60vcore (54C load temps so no higher for now) with ram 1:1-2.5-4-4-8-2T@2.9vdimm. I still need to work on some of the "other" timmings in the bios and try to tighten it up some but I'm very happy with this. Anybody with some timming suggestions, or even some explanations as to what some of the other stuff does, let me know.

Edit: super pi 1m of 34.752s with untweaked ram, not too shabby.

260 x 10 is going to be your limit with that chip..unfortunately your memory isnt going to be maxed anytime soon...
Lower your mem timings to 2.5-3-3-5 1T. You should be good up to 280 or so with those timings.
You can still test the maximum of your memory, just make your CPU multi like 9 or something, and crank the HTT up 280+.
As far as the other memory timings, I would leave them at auto until you can figure them out, Do a search over at dfi street and plug in some timings other's have used for the same memory. They are available, you just have to look..

1.6vcore thats insane dude, btw 54C load is too high for the chip, it should be below 50C for the safe side 55C is the ABSOLUTE MAX that you want to have it running

I agree, that is a little high on the vcore but it's what it took to do it. As far as temps go there is NOTHING I do on a day to day basis that will max out both cores like dual prime will, I ran BF2 and Pacific Fighters for a few hours last night with mbm5 running and my max cpu temp was 43C average 38C. Besides, this is only temporary until I get the water setup in the beginning of feb.

Hi Vanorge, I would suggest starting a new thread in its proper section (in this case the AMD CPU section) with a descriptive title. Mods dont appreciate it when people drudge up old threads, and then hijack them.
