Windows failing to come out of idle state

Thread Starter
I guess this is OS related so I'll post it here. Once in a while (like every few days) my computer will not "turn on". The fans and hardrive would still spin (in fact, everything inside the case still responds) but the screen would remaind black and the keyboard does not seem to respond. This happens so far in between and at random times (usually when I leave it running overnight) that it does not bother me that much, but I would still like to figure out what is wrong.

U may need to go into power options in the cotrol panel and make sure that your monitor by default does not go into standby mode..this may help if not go into the bios and review your power management set-up.

Go to the device manager and click on the graphics card, PS/2 port, and keyboard and click on the menu and select "do not power down" or similar

The problem was when the PC went on stand by mode. For some reason neither my keyboard or the mouse would respond. Just enabeled the option to prompt for password when coming out of stand by. That seems to have fixed it. Weird .
