$1500 Intel Limit build, i7 920 or 860

Thread Starter
My Sig Rig is old and im getting ready to build a new one for Starcraft 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Used parts I am going to put in my newer PC:
Sound Card
2 WD 80GB drives
Monitor
Speakers

Parts I have made my final decision on.
Case: Antec P183
PSU: Seasonic x650

Plans:
Overclock, but not immediately, down the road
Raid Hard drives
Gaming
Some video Encoding
Chose the Case and Psu for low dB noise levels
SLI/crossfire....unsure

So the 1500 will just go into whatever is left over.
Thanks, will Rep

i7 920 get my vote. Theres a couple good MBs for it too, I like the Asus P6T.
A 5870 should be fine for gaming.

$1500 will get you a *very* nice gaming rig - give me a bit and I'll post up a build

EDIT: I know you said Antec case - but the Lancool is cheaper and I have the PC60 and I love it - If you'd like to change it that's up to you. I also selected the Corsair 850w unit. I'm pretty sure they get their PSU components from Seasonic and just put their label on it so that works out as well. If you live near a Microcenter - I've heard they sell the i7-920 cheaper than newegg so you might be able to save some $$$ by going there if it's possible for you. If you do decide to buy from newegg - be sure to check out the affiliate link in my sig before you buy!

New HDD for sure.

Get some Samsung Spinpoints or some WD black Caviars.

A SSD for OS might break a budget for a New GPU.

I just made up a quick build - with a bit of research I'm sure the end price can go down some. I just selected a couple of combo's really quick from the egg... As for the HDD - yes you should get a new drive - 4 years is definitely old. Caviar Blacks are nice - I love mine. A quick compromise is to get the 5850 instead and just overclock it. Alternatively if you want to fold with this PC get a GTX 275.

I forgot to ask - what kind of monitor & sound card are you moving into this new build?
