CPU-Z says that my CPU is underclocking - Page 3

If we look at it from that point of view then there is a possibility that CPU-Z is unable to correctly determine your system multiplier.
However I find this unlikely as it has full support for both your CPU and motherboard.
First you mentioned that Intel Thermal Control is on automatic, this means it will run if there is need be. However I find it logical that this will be Intel Thermal Throttling (TM1) not SpeedStep (TM2). As a test disable this and reload CPU-Z and see if this makes a difference.

Next in windows do the following.
Either:
Right Click the desktop and click on propeties, then select the screensaver tab and then click the "Power" button.
Or
Go to Control Panel and select power options.

From this screen make sure the power scheme is set to Home/Office desk.
If a change has been made load up CPU-Z, if not leave this step out.

If after you have done this we are absolutely sure that EIST is disabled then your system is either using its x17 multiplier or x14 (via CPU lock free).

I have to say that I do find it unlikely that CPU-Z is incorrect. It is usually correct at reading details and it updates fast as its in "realtime". The other applications may have not detected the implmentation of EIST/CPU lock free

In the BIOS it should be under the advanced tab, and then under jumperfree settings. You will need to move the overclocking profile to manual first to see the CPU Lock Free option.

Check the BIOS revisions for your motherboard on the Asus website. For some boards, that option was first introduced with one of the later BIOS revisions.

I am unable to find your exact board, the nearest one is the P5GPL. The CPU Lock Free option on that board was included on the original release so I would assume it is also on yours.
It is unlikely but the CPU Lock Free may be on a different location in your BIOS, try the board options perhaps.
