i just install the coolbits software to see my card temperature since i presume is overheating, i cant see temp anywere, i did reboot the computer but still nothing, i know than these cards have temp sensor, i download rivatuner, and i can see tempreading with tht, but is it true?, if it is why i canot see the temp on my nvidia drivers,uhmm.... the reading on riva is
Desktop 50° and when i play something 85° is this good bad or what?? heeelp!!!! =:_]
note: i have 2 computers both have 6600gt one from msi the other pny, same deal with both no temp reading in nvidia drivers.

It's not driver related.
It's something related to the bios.
Check this page on how to enable the temperature monitor on your card.

If the temperature you mention is 85 degrees Celsius then that's a bit high. GPUs can handle higher temperatures than CPUs however you should be at the limit (80C to 85C).
What's your temperature inside the case ? What about your room temperature ?

also one more thing, i turn off my virtual memory and all seems faster, shall i leave it off??? or it can do some trouble.
thx for the help dude.

Well if your room temp is 24C and your case temp is just 1 degree higher it means you have excellent ventilation. This is not surprising since you have a good case that's equipped with two 120mm fans.

You should try some Arctic Silver 5 on your GPU. It should help bring down your core temp by a few degrees. Try to keep your gpu load temps under 80C if possible.

Concerning turning of virtual memory it shouldn't be a problem since you have 2GB of ram. When you turn it off, everything is loaded directly into ram. It doesn't have to be fetched from your hard disk's page file anymore.
That's why it all becomes faster. Because ram electronic access is way faster than hard disk mechanical access.
Leave it off and test... You can always turn it back on if you experience problems.

You should consider buying a $30 cooler for your GPU such as the Arctic Cooling Silencers which is what I have. My temps are 36* idle and 52* load.

I wanted to enable temp monitoring on my 6600gt, but drdflash keeps throwing errors when I try to format the floppy, I tried like four different floppies. If I click ignore then it will be screwed up and not even boot into dos. Can't I just format as a dos boot up disc using windows? Why did the instructions specify using drdflash if you're running windows xp?

Also say that something goes horribly wrong. Is it possible to reflash the card blindly? Because I don't have a pci card laying around.

I though that a bios update was supposed to come out so that people wouldn't have to mess with this. Any news on that?

It should work. Format the floppy as a bootable system floppy.
Then extract nvFlash 5.13 to it and try.

Concerning the blind flash it's better to prepare a floppy in advance.
Check this link on how to do that.
