Well, it passed 30 minutes of a custom blend test with 5000 MB of RAM used. It doesn't do that on Windows

I'll let it run for the night when I go to bed.

I seriously tried close to a hundred different bios settings before I gave up. I could run multiple passes in memtest at 1600 without problem, but I soon as I tried to do a blend test it would crash within an hour or two. I ended RMA'ing the RAM and selling the new set.
I haven't tried running only small ffts yet. I'm running a set of tested OCZ Golds from my 1st rig with extensive torture testing in this 930 rig and I still can't find a stable setting to get to 4.0. What I thought might be stable, ended up failing Prime after 3 hours.

I had intentions on sticking in the "questionable" memory in today and trying it out, but decided not to since I'd rather find a stable overclock then diagnose memory.

I'm kinda just taking shots in the dark right now with BIOS settings, I just changed the Uncore frequency from auto to 18x, hoping that may magically fix something....probably not though.

Part of the problem is that I have this rig at home and only get to work on it after work hours when I'm completely exhausted. I think I'd make more progress if I brought it into my office, hahah

Good morning all

And hold on here

as far as 50+ runs of linx or 12-24 hours of prime

Hmmm... NO Thank You Sir

5 runs at max memory and 25000 problem size is good enough for me
when after that i can fold a3 core WU's@ 95% cpu for days straight and install 6+gig games and scan things with avg at the same time. "FOR REAL WORLD USE"

or encode 4-5 HD-source movies at once and surfing around OCN

And most "if none at all" aren't running servers or E-commerce type businesses or on a workstation working with autocad and such with high dollar contracts.

If i am going to stress my gear that hard and for that long its going to pay cash or help cure cancer.

This is just my humble opinion.

LinX 5 pass "MAX" then folding is my stress test
If my GFLOPS are dropping substantially within the 1st 3-4 passes in sequential order that can seem to lead to a need in a increase of vcore. It seems from reading up on that and testing it seems to hold true.

When it comes to 24/7 settings can some very experienced
users with i7's give me some input on if these setting are good for 24/7 use LONG TERM?

VTT is now set to +0mV 1.2v stock for Classified (Idling@1.25v) (Load 1.28v~1.30v) " I know intel's rated max for CPU VTT is 1.35v" and that it needs to be within .5 of the Dimm. I run 1.65 for my Dominators@842Mhz
If anyone is wondering why i'm using a 19x multi it is because the lower the multi the lower my vcore and VTT can be set with stability being temps are an issue with my high ambients of 75f-80f

Even with LinX why on earth are my temps so close to the 80c range with 1.26v vcore and a 1.26v on vtt on load with at least a H50?

Sounds like a bad mount. I get load temps lower than those with LinX on the stock cooler with 1.23v...

I realize that my stability testing routine is more extensive compared to what others may do. For me, I now have 2 i7 930 rigs that are able to run 40+ runs of LinX/IBT and at least 12+ hours of Prime95 without any problems. I'm thinking there should be no reason that this i7 930 rig should be able to do the same thing before I call it stable.
