Not really surprising since most Chinese manufacturers are run like mafias. Foxconn pretty much is The OEM for motherboards and such. Pretty much everybody in the States own something made by Foxconn.

Anyways I plan on replacing the TIM on my NB and GPU with MX-3 this weekend along with adding a shroud on the pos. side of my Ven-X. I might try flashing the bios on my GTX 470 and seeing the difference in PPD is. Right now I'm hitting 13.9k PPD at a light overclock of 1400 on the shaders. Hitting 24.4k PPD on the i-7 with 7 threads running. It's quite tempting to buy a second 470. I don't think my roommate knows how much power I'm consuming right now. I hope to keep it that way. I need to sell my 5770 first along with a slew of bike parts before I buy the second 470.

The TIM replacement on the NB should help a little bit! After getting my Asus and MSI rig setup, I've realized that out "hot" Northbridge chips actually aren't that hot compared to the Asus P6T SE and MSI Pro-E. The Northbridge on both boards runs about 10-15c hotter...

I really want to buy a GTX 470 or 480 for folding after seeing the numbers it is putting up in the GPU3 Beta. It would really help push me to my goal of being a Top 20 producer, but I don't know how much more money I want to pour into Folding!

...plus, I have to buy a new bed soon, which costs a small fortune.

I don't even know if this is possible, but I think Folding@Home has claimed another set of memory.

I had to RMA a set of OCZ Golds after got one of my machines to behave all screwy. I replaced it with Mushkin Blacklines and everything went well for a week or so until about an hour ago. BSODs like no tomorrow, I backed off the memory timings, turned down the overclock to 3.8, upped the vcore, and still nothing.

I'm in the process of testing each stick of ram at a time, and I think I found at least 1 "bad" one.

This makes me so depressed...

On a much more happy note, apparently I just got into SRC and Intel's Undergraduate Research Opportunities program. This summer I am working on mechanical testing (shear, tension, and hardness) of leadless solder joints and I was just told that it is being funding by Intel and now they want me in this program. A little surprised but it sounds like the program will help me get internships and possibly funding for graduate school.

Congrats!

When I was younger, I was invited to a program sponsored by Semi, Intel and Applied Materials. At the end of the program I ended up with a few scholarships, an internship offer (which I turned down to instead intern at Cisco), and made some connects with some fairly well placed people at Intel who volunteered to be a "mentor" of sorts. Stupid me, I never really kept in touch with those people though.

Definitely take advantage of the program! Only good things can come out of it!

You might want to update your front page;

Bios 64 is the most current for the X58 SLI, there is also a beta 70 posted on the site as well.

Running at 4ghz, 200x20 with 1.176 vcore, HT off.

I've added this club to the intel motherboard guides as well.

Hey guys,
What have you got that will run on all 8 cores but not take up the whole window so that I can see my gadget that shows they're running? I may have done a little damage to my mobo and need to find out somehow that it's ok. Is there a motherboard tester?

No, I don't have a multi-meter.

Also when do you think Evga will come out with the new Classified boards with USB 3.0? I'm guessing you know about the X55 Classy's just released?

@Andy Glad to see you guys are finally getting rid of that ugly monkey face!

TIA,
Bri

Edit: Holy Chrome Robilar!! I thought the limit on the DO was 1.5V?? Is it because you turned off HT? I've been thinking of doing that for a long time but I'm already at 1.45 with 300+mv. I don't like relying on the system to decide when I need the extra 200Mhz. I'd rather have it all the time.

Why do you feel you may have damaged the mobo? What are the symtoms? Or what did you do?
I dont know if theres any downloadable diagnostics programs for motherboards and programs like Linx and Prime95 will just test cpu and memory i think.

Where do you see Robilar pushing 1.5v? He states 1.176v
