No, I don't have a multi-meter.

Also when do you think Evga will come out with the new Classified boards with USB 3.0? I'm guessing you know about the X55 Classy's just released?

@Andy Glad to see you guys are finally getting rid of that ugly monkey face!

TIA,
Bri

Edit: Holy Chrome Robilar!! I thought the limit on the DO was 1.5V?? Is it because you turned off HT? I've been thinking of doing that for a long time but I'm already at 1.45 with 300+mv. I don't like relying on the system to decide when I need the extra 200Mhz. I'd rather have it all the time.
Hahaha, jerk.

EVGA has the FTW3 which has USB 3.0, but it isn't in the Classified family. If I had to guess, I bet it will be 4+ months until they release another board...? The FTW3 just released, SR-2 is now for sale, and I think there's another board out but I can't remember. I'd just pick up the FTW3, it looks like a solid board.

LinX, IntelBurnTool and Prime95 will all stress 8 cores without taking up the entire screen.

I dont know if theres any downloadable diagnostics programs for motherboards and programs like Linx and Prime95 will just test cpu and memory i think.

Where do you see Robilar pushing 1.5v? He states 1.176v
Yes, I have brain fade today, only got 4 hours of sleep last night because I had to re-install my OS. I've got Prime95 and Linx.

No, I didn't say Robilar was doing 1.5V, I was saying I thought 1.5v was the limit, but also didn't see that it is actually 1.176v. Like I said, brain fade, thanks.

Still the question remains does it help to turn HT off to get a more stable overclock at a lower voltage?

The mobo symptoms are the internet is stuttering, hesitating the hard drive will spin up and run for about 3 minutes when nothing is being done.

Turning off HT will lower temps and reqiure less power.

The next time you notice it doing that check task manger and see if anything funny is running. Or maybe it can be a windows setting that needs to be tweaked after your fresh install

Yeah, I downloaded process explorer, nothing funny. It actually turns out to be a faulty Evga Gtx 480. I have great luck, I get 2, one is DOA, back to the Egg, I don't even put the second one in for a week because I'm testing them. Then I put it in and it's the DOA one, meanwhile the first one starts having all this trouble. So it has to go back to Evga, but I got the Advance RMA so I'll have 2 before I actually send 2 back. I'm glad it's not my mobo cause it isn't covered by Evga.

I'm glad you got it somewhat sorted sorry i couldn't have been more help.

Well guys, i have recently "modded" a lot of stuff. Changed the TIM for the NB and SB (I believe?) with MX-3. I can't believe how much they put on it. Roughly about 6 grains of rice was not even on the chip. Before the Northbridge was around 75C after doing 1 hour of prime95. Now it's abour 45-55c. I would highly recommend everyone do change the TIM on theirs, i'm guessing EVGA has the same process for most of their motherboards, which is horrible!

I also lapped my CPU cooler and raised my overclock to 3.66. Load temps are at about 55C. Basically, i'm a happy camper.

Edit: Wish i took some before/after pics to show how badly the TIM was placed.

Some good ideas there. I have replaced TIM on many motherboards, usually to good effect.

Regarding your cpu overclock, that is a very high idle temp. At 3.66 you should be idling at around 40c or less.

Oops, that was a typo. I meant to say loads. My idle is around what you said, 35-40 depending on the ambient temps
