Wow, last post 2 days ago...

In thread related news, I tried to buy a 930 from Micro Center to use in the B-stock LE board, and my store is all sold out... I'm hoping new chips come in soon, and they don't stop the $200 deal.

Hey Andy if you ever get rid of one of your X58 boards let me know

Does the evga x58 classified boards fit with the venomous x CPU cooler with a push/pull setup left to right air blowing outside the rear 120mm fan slot? Also does that setup leave room for a top 200mm fan and a side panel 200mm fan and corsair dominator ram?

I'd really like to get the nzxt phantom case

Hi guys, recently acquired an i7 920 D0 and an x58 SLI LE mobo, ram is Patriot Sector 5 1333 (9-9-9-24) 1333 DDR3. I tried all afternoon and night on Saturday to see what sort of overclock my cpu can do and it seems the max I can get is 3.8ghz stable, ran prime95 and starcraft 2 replay at Ultra setting stable for over an hour. Here's the screen shots.

I really want to hit 4.0ghz but as you can see my load temp is already at the Max safe level. Currently I feel my voltage is already high for 3.8ghz and temps idle at 40C with my Raidmax X3 cooler, it's not a popular cooler but it performs admirably with 4 heatpipes and 2 fans for push/pull config. Let me post that template and see if you guys can guide me towards the 4.0ghz barrier. XD

Yeah, I'll keep that in mind. I might be done after this for a little bit....at least on 1366 platform. I still need to build an HTPC, but that will probably be on 1156. I MIGHT do a Sandy Bridge refresh on one system, which would put up an X58 for sale...but I'll keep you posted.

All information below would pertain to an Antec 300 case:

I have no experience with the Classified boards, but I'm pretty sure the layout (socket and ram slots) are identical to the X58 LE which I know a little about.

On my LE, you can run the Venomous X with push/pull fans UNSHROUDED. In that setup, the exhausting fan is in the vicinity of the rear 120mm fan opening on an Antec 300 case, but not directly in front of it. On all of my setups running the VenX with push/pull fans, I have the fans on the heatsink, as well as rear fan slot. In my opinion, that might be overkill, and you'd probably be able to get by without.

Antec 300 cases have a 140mm fan opening on the top of the case. That fan is usable, and will clear the Venomous X BUT you need to be careful on how you position the cooler to the CPU. When you get all your stuff, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. There is not a lot of clearance between the top of the heatsink and the bottom of a 140x25mm fan, so when attaching the heatsink to the CPU, not everything will be perfectly center...the heatsink will sit slightly low on the CPU. It's really hard to explain when you don't have all the parts and can't see what I'm talking about but I guess the least you can take away is...Yes, it can work.

Wait, I'm a bit confused. I looked at the x58 le board and the northbridge heatsink isn't like the ones on the classified boards. The classified boards have huuuuge wide heatsinks.

However, if u think I should be ok then atleast that gives me some hope.

Anyone have an actual evga e76xx classified board and have a venomous x CPU cooler with a push/pull setup on it? Does effect Any side panel fans u may have or top 200mm fan?

Anyone have experience with this block? Thinking of getting this or upgrading to the ROG mobo

Board finally came in wednesday night and is working very nicely, however, I can't seem to find any other ways to control the fan speeds within the board besides speedfan. I can control the 2 on the cpu cooler, but the other 4 are all running at full constantly, and it's adding a lot to the noise. I'm not going for full silence, but I know I don't need the fans on full when I'm idling.
