I'll do that (sort of).

I don't have settings that exactly match that, so I'm setting close to that. And My IOH PLL is already at 1.8 (in auto) do you really want for me to lower that?

CPU Vcore - 1.31875
CPU Vtt - +275
CPU PLL Vcore - 1.845
QPI PLL Vcore - 1.4

Temps are up a bit, the jury is out on stablity as before it had 2 BSODs in 8 hours, so it might be a while.

just overclocked for the first time today. 3.8 and stable so far!
I don't know how many people are active here anymore, but is there any chance I could get some help. I am still learning the i7 architecture, but I am having new issues.

I currently have 24GB (6x 4GB) installed.

Symptoms seem very strange for me, probably because I have so little experience with i7s, Triple Channel Memory, or let alone 24GB installed.

6x 4GB Patriot Viper Extreme 2000 MHz (9-11-9-27) @ 1.65v
i7 980x
EVGA Classified 3 E770

Symptoms:
Unstable 3.8~4.0 GHz overclock with HT on.

When I got it stable on a Blend test, I figured I could just increase the CPU speed, and then re-adjust the Vcore (that was my last attempt, and it failed.)

I really just need to know what is the correct voltages to get this to be stable (if it is indeed possible.)

Stable Settings:
CPU Freq: 3423.8 MHz (24.0x 142.7 Blclk)
Mem Freq: 998.6 MHz (1997.2 MHz)
QPI Link: 3423.9 MHz

Uncore Frequency: 2995.7 MHz

Memory Timings - (9-11-9-27-200-1T)
Channels #: Triple

LLC: Enabled (Vdroop Off)
Vcore: Auto (1.300v)
Vcore Boost #1: +0
Vcore Boost #2: +0
IOH/ICH I/O Voltage 1.5v: 1.5v
ICH Vcore 1.05v: 1.10v
QPI PLL Vcore 1.1v: 1.20v
IOH PLL Vcore 1.8v: 1.80v
CPU PLL Vcore 1.8v: 1.80v
IOH Vcore 1.1v: 1.10v
CPU VTT Voltage 1.2v: 1.35v
DRAM Voltage 1.5v: 1.65v

Given these settings, I need to know what I should be aiming for with a Gulftown processor, I haven't really seen anything directly related to my specs so any reference would be most helpful.

Secondly, would there be any reason why I can't post at any Uncore frequency that isn't 1.5x? It isn't isolated to this RAM, but every RAM I have tried on my board.

My first guess would be that it needs more QPI PLL voltage or CPU VTT voltage. Having 24GBs of RAM puts more strain on the memory controller on the chip. Also, what speed is your RAM running at? It is usually better, in my experience, to raise your RAM timings by 2-3 bumps while getting a stable overclock for your CPU. Then move onto your RAM. Also, running your RAM at 2000mhz with all channels used is gonna need A LOT of voltage. I can't even get my 6GBs of 2000mhz RAM up to specs without using more voltage than I am comfortable with 24/7, so I settled on a lower speed and really tight timings.
Hope this helps.

I am running it at 1997.2 MHz, added that to my original post.

I will keep playing with it.

I am just a little confused as to which voltage setting directly affects Memory based stability tests. On AM3 side, its primarily Cpu Vcore then CPU-NB voltage, thats it. Here I have many variables to work with. I will just get a temperature + voltage sweet spot and post my results so that anyone else can duplicate if anybody else needs 24GB up and running.

A nice voltage guide: http://www.evga.com/forumsarchive/tm.asp?m=100494809
And I had to tinker around for a few days before I realized any extra voltage didn't really increase my systems performance. So just play with it till your happy.

Thanks a lot, its a very complete guide, just the way I like it.

Have you ever seen a guide/post evidence that 24GB is extremely stressful on the IMC?

I know its common sense, but I haven't seen any proof or serious explanation on it. Its not that I don't believe it, but perhaps the voltage I am adding should be more VTT than QPI if I can find out what would benefit me the most.

I have changed my settings just to have a starting point, this is 24 GB stable settings for me. I am still not really seeing a huge difference than when I had 6GB of GeIL Black Dragons installed @ 2000 @ 7-9-7.

CPU Speed: 3326.9 MHz (Tried to get it close to stock.)
Multi: 23.0
Bclck: 144.7
QPI Link 3471.6 MHz
Memory Freq: 1012.6 MHz
Uncore/NB Freq: 3037.7 MHz

FSB-DRAM Ratio: 2:14
Memory Timings: 9-11-9-27-200-1T

Voltages:
Vdroop On (LLC Off)
Vcore: 1.10v
Vcore Boost #1: +0v
Vcore Boost #2: +0v
IOH/ICH I/O Voltage 1.5v: 1.50v
ICH Vcore 1.05v: 1.100v
QPI PLL Vcore 1.1v: 1.200v
IOH PLL Vcore 1.8v: 1.800v
CPU PLL Vcore 1.8v: 1.800v
IOH Vcore 1.1v: 1.100v
CPU VTT Voltage 1.2v: 1.20v
DRAM Voltage: 1.65v

*Update*
5 Hours Stable: Custom Prime95 Blend - Change Memory Usage to 22500 MB.
Failed @ 5 Hours and 12 Minutes.
Increased QPI PLL Vcore 1.1v to 1.225v
