I have lowered it in EVGA EL33t (to 1.3v) and so far so good, I have benched on it and playing games all morning with out a issue

Have to change it in BIOS on next reboot
Same here man, according to all the "templates" I found over at evga the voltages I had set to begin were way off the charts..

I read going to 250 - 300mV (which is like 1.40 - 1.45v on my board) on the vtt & 1.35 - 1.4 for the NB & QPI...

I have changed alot since then and found it to still be stable and I was just overvolting everything. Here are my current setting for 185 x 23 (4.24GHz) HT on...

Code:
Voltage Control
EVGA VDroop Control ( Without VDroop )
CPU VCore ( 1.40 )
CPU VTT Voltage ( +150 ) 1.33v windows
CPU PLL VCore ( 1.80v )
DIMM Voltage ( 1.65v )
DIMM DQ Vref ( +0 )
QPI PLL VCore ( 1.20v )
IOH VCore ( 1.25 )
IOH/ICH I/O Voltage ( 1.575 )
ICH VCore ( 1.2v )

No problem, I was in the same boat as you..

I have always made a rule of lowering voltages and testing once I get to a stable OC...

The basics for X58 are

CPU Voltag - self explanitory
VTT Voltage = BCLK, higher bclk = higher vtt
QPI Voltage = Memory Controller, higher MHz or More ram = higher vcore
DRAM/DIMM = Memory - I say default unless doing some extreme clocking and you can cool it..

the rest are in relation to HD's, Sata controller & PCI-E slots..

Well the NB does run a bit warm, I ended up putting a 60mm fan on the heatsink which worked well enough for me.

Other than that the board is fine for me. Has a voltage cap so if your into extreme OC benching the limit is 1.60v

The "Without VDroop" feature for me added voltage from bios to windows and from idle to load. Nothing insane, I think I am at 1.393v bios, 1.40v win idle, 1.41v load....
So something to account for...

See the las few posts on voltage discussion. Most "templates" you will find via google will have you overvolting...

My brother has this board and we are looking to get him a better and quieter air CPU heatsink fan (currently has a 3 heatpipe 92mm Artic Cooling). So what do you guys like that fits in between all of the massive amounts of clearance issues this board presents? He also has dominator ram without removable fins so that is another clearance issue. My first choice in air cooling is the D-14 and Noctua says it is actually compatible with the board if you install it vertically and inverted 180 degrees, which wouldn't be a problem as he does have top exhaust fans. My second choice is the Corsair H60 which would have zero clearance issues and is nice and quiet like we want, but I'm concerned about it's cooling power, he has a 920 (ealier revision, not sure if that is D0 or C0) that is at stock currently because he didn't like the heat and noise it put out at 3.6GHz and I don't know if he will want to keep it stock but I don't want to recommend a cooler to him that wouldn't be able to provide good temps up to 3.3-3.4 atleast while remaining quiet. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Looking through the thread a little bit I see lots of Corsair H50/70s even in the 4GHz range and seeing as the H60 is supposed to be better than the H50 and near the H70 that bodes well, but I would really appreciate if a few people with overclocked 920s and Corsair H's would chime in and let me know how happy they are with the temps they are getting out of it. Thanks.

For preformance/price and clearence limitations the Corsair H series is a pretty good idea. Keep in mind you have tubing and a Rad to deal with, but usually you will have room on the rear exhaust to mount it.

The NH-D14 is a great air cooler, but it is massive. I had one for a short time and it works great.
The TRUE is also a good cooler, and even with 2 120mm fans the clearance is usually good enough that it will clear the Ram & NB heatsink...

Do you have a pic of his setup?

First off thanks for your advice. I do not have a pic of his setup, but I will list as much info as I know here. i7 920, corsair dominator with large heatsinks, it's actually this motherboard he has with the green ram slots and blue and white PCI slots, he has one 260 core 216 in the top PCIe x16, not sure of his case but he has a back 120 and two top 120 exhausts all with decent clearance around them.

I think that unless anybody chimes in that has run the d-14 in the configuration required by this board (vertical exhaust) as detailed by Noctua here and confirm that it will actually work almost as well in that configuration, then I am leaning towards the H60. We would be able to mount it on the back 120 as an intake because the heat would easily get exhausted out the top by the two 120s without creating a problem. So what would help me make a decision are people with overclocked 920s (or similar heat) and Corsair H50/70 posting their temps and impressions, or people that have run the D-14 as required to fit it in this mobo without it degrading performance too badly. Thanks.
