Mosquitoes are a food source for MANY animals, it's basic food chain problem. If you eliminate/eradicate a vital link, in this case mosquitoes, you will be depriving animals that feed off them. They also pollinate plants flowers.
With that said though, mosquitoes only make up 1-2% of the food source animals (frogs, fish, etc that eat them). If we we're to wipe them off the face of the earth, animals who used to eat them probably wouldn't starve.
Regardless of them not starving, disrupting a food chain/food web has and will always have unforeseeable consequences. you tend to introduce competition if u eliminate a member from a food chain as they will find another food source that belongs to another animal and one will have to give up (the stronger will survive). Just like here in Jamaica where they introduced the mongoose to get rid of rats and snakes in the cane fields, after it depleted and even caused the extinction of one or two of the species of snakes it ran out of a food source and turned to live stock such as chicken and goats.
so we have to be careful what we do with the environment.
