you are right you cannot completely eradicate mosquitoes. But in the present time there are far to many places for mosquitoes to breed. (ie old tires, ditches, and other sorts of this type of stuff.) The last time I checked they do not pollinate flowers. I stand corrected the pollinate orchids cannot find anything on any other flowers though.

Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys.. Hold up now. The animals will still be able to eat the mosquitoes, the only difference is they will be on the ground already cooked. Sounds like a good trade off to me.
