Hello all

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post, so I thought I'd introduce myself.

Now, the problem I'm having is with enabling SLi using the method described in this thread. The 'read it first' link in the first post appears to be down. Thanks to Huh for the recap.

To enable Sli on a non Sli board:
Uninstall the 1.2b SLIPatch. Install the 280.26 WHQL drivers, restart, install SLIPatch 1.5b, restart, install 280.26 Modded drivers (double click install.cmd), restart. Done.

There is a boot option when I restart after installing the patch that is apparently connected to the installation of SLipatch. I have tried booting win 7 and with the new boot option.

So following Huh's instructions I have gotten this far. Sli appears, I enable it. good. kaboom the Nvidia control panel app 3.8.812.0 has stopped functioning AND the resolution drops to 800x 600... allowing a maximum of 1280x1024.

My gear is-

Intel DP45SG motherboard
4 gig OCZ ram 7-7-7-16
1 Zotac gtx 460 SE 768mb 710mhz/voltage .975
1 Zotac gtx 460 SE 768mb 675mhz/voltage .987
Arctic Bridge "Gold Finger"

I repeated this process a couple times with the result being the same.

If anyone can help or has advice , I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

I recommend you clean all your graphics drivers in safe mode with driver sweeper.

So now I have repeated the process of uninstallation, combined with using driver cleaner (in safe mode), reinstall with latest proprietary Nvidia 280.26 drivers. Same results.

Now here's where I'm lost.

When I receive the option to boot Windows 7/2008 SLIpatch vs just windows 7, should I be?

Just a note too, cuz it might be important. I am running an Ultra 550 watt, 1 HD, 1 SSD drive, no overclock. From the info I've read this should be enough, however the power supply provides two PCI-E plugs that I shared between them (in the right slots on the the card). On the left plugs I used some 6 pin into 2 standard 4 power extension plugs. On one of the cards, I have only 1 of the 4 pinners conected - leaving 3 pins unconnected.

Not sure if any of you tech heads know if this is connected (pun intended) to funking up the intial SLI setup. Know that there is no graphics load at the time, and 2nd cards seem to work fine in a physX configuration.

you have to have all the power pugs connected...
Makes sense but my main gtx 460 card ran without issues as a single card in any game with 3/4 power PCI-E. I am going to disconnect one of the Drives though, and test it with all the plugs and I'll post an update in the forum. These ones are using 2 standard 4 pin molex per pci.. Does anyone know if they make a single molex to PCI-E plug Or a SATA to Molex?

The other possibility is just to buy a new Power supply.. NCIX has OCZ ModXtream 700watt for 49 bucks right now...

Update: Tried the enable SLI process with all 4 power pcie cables connected - same result.

Has anyone ever enabled SLI on an Intel DP45SG in this forum?"

It's not your power. I have plenty of power to my twin gtx480's (antec 750w), but I have the exact same problems you do. I'm using a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P. I went through the same series of steps (except for using safe mode), and had the same result. I also initially installed the 280.26 driver patch prior to the slipatch 0.91, but then tried the other order after a clean 280.26 original driver install. I feel so close here- don't know what to do. This is my first attempt to ever enable SLI via a hack.
thx-

Jeremy

I now believe I have this working. I can't remember if I changed the order of install between the modded driver and slipatch or not, but one thing I know I did differently was locking Physx to the CPU and clicking apply BEFORE enabling SLI. (it was previously on Auto select) I have no idea if this made the difference or not, but I was able to move it back to auto afterward with no ill effect. Again, this is with 280.26. Great patch! Thank you so much to whoever writes and maintains this thing!!!

Someone should make a video on how to do this. Less people would have problems.
