All i'm saying is something about games are not seeing the hack in my case. Alot of users report increases but most of them its just vantage and heaven benchmark reports...never seen in any game reports. Alot of people however are saying they dont see a increase. sure blame it on bottleneck but i'm not going to believe that a quad/hex/ whatever you want is bottlenecking 2 480's/8800/250's when i can run trifire maxed out and be fine.

Either way the cards are sold.

*edit* and yes the 258 patch actually causes BSOD's. I performed all tests on 257.21 with .8. I just wanted to show people that the sli hack may not work the way it is intended. I was told id have no problems...not everyone is crying bottleneck...love how the story changes.
you got me into solid confusion man, now i need a absolute test in front of my eyes to confirm weather this patch would work, i already have a 250, need to borrow another one for testing, see if i can find one with any one of my friends, will test it with latest drivers and report back, now i am not going to buy 460 before i confirm that the patch works!!!!

he's running an x58, so I cant speak for him. If you read op and some recent post, you'll see a lot of amd boards are successful, also another guy using an asus Crosshair IV 890fx was able to get sli 250. reading the site, the most important aspect is having the avail pcie 2.0 slots and your 790fx seems proper for it. Post back your test results. My green cards arrive tomorrow! so I will find out if I have the same luck as another asus CHIV owner and gtx4xx series sli. good luck

edit: btw, go to user cp, click on "edit my system" on the left column of options, fill out your rigs specs and it will auto post on all your replies/posts so you wont have to type or copy/paste it to your posts

i can say that I have gotten my two GTS 250 to work in SLI very easily. The only problem is random BSOD, mostly when in game.

I'm running latest drivers.

I'm running latest drivers.
Downgrade to 257.xx drivers and see if you get anymore BSODs.

Hello everyone. This thread is an amazing help because I'm looking at buying 2 GTX 460's. Would it be a good idea to run them with this motherboard? If 2 slots are used then the cards will be running in x8 mode, so I think they'll be held back.

It shouldn't be a problem. You might loose 3% performance, tops.

is there any huge performance drop when using SLI together with AMD?
e.g: C2Q 9550 + X48 vs Phenom II 965 + 790FX run at the same clock speed

I had a 890fxa-ud7. the patch would install fine and the drivers would work fine. I would only see a increase in frames in heaven benchmark though...i dont fully understand it. tried sli/tri/etc. I would get the performance of a Single card. Maybe i didnt do something right with the patch instalL? Said it installed sucessfully. Best way to test is to run BC2...before and after to see if theres any difference.
