HOWTO: SLI on a non-SLI Motherboard (GTX5xx compatible 1.0 final released!) - Page 156

I searched this thread for 790XT-G45 and no results were found. Can anyone confirm this mobo working for SLI (GTX460s)?

Hi, I just updated my drivers to 258.38 and they install and detect sli but my screen flickers in games. Did you ever have to apply the second patch to stop flickering?

UPDATE: I was able to fix the flickering by applying the modded drivers for 258.38 which are available on the link on the sticky. All looks good on my setup.

I don't have that issue...

I have found that it only happens when you use normal SLI..

Not SLI surround...

In Surround there is no flickering...

while in normal SLI mode there is...

Ok, I have a question here.
My setup is:
ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo
EVGA 9800 GTX+
BFG Tech 9800 GTX
Win7 32-bit

I've finally settled on this thread's method and I have everything set up correctly, using SLIPatch 1.5b and the 280.26 modded .sys and everything seems to be fine installation wise.

My problem is that whenever I boot with both cards in, regardless of slot, order of cards, SLI bridge, bridge position, whatever, I hang instantly at the Starting Windows just before the animated Windows logo appears. Both cards work fine solo.
Also, obviously, since it only boots with one card in, Nvidia CP doesn't even have an SLI option.

Also to be clear I am choosing the SLIPatch Windows at boot.

Any suggestions?

Alright I've been using the patch no problems for a few weeks and the other day out of no where I got a grey screen. Now whenever I start playing a game my GPU usage goes all over the place anywhere form 30% usage to 97%. If I run furmark there is no GPU usage irregularities it stays in the 97%-99% usage. I have tried down clocking the GPU but still no changes.
System specs:
AMD 955 X4
2X gtx 460 Hawk
Patriot Viper Xtreme 4GB RAM
700w PSU

*The system is currently at default clocks*
Any help is appreciated.

I recently updated my setup to use the 285.38 drivers, and I'm having some lag issues. With SLI enabled, there is a severe lag in fullscreen applications. For example, watching a 720p YouTube video in fullscreen gets about 10fps. Non-fullscreen is fine. The same can be said for games such as Battlefield 3. If I disable SLI, everything runs smoothly.

Here was my process:
1. Used Driver Sweeper to remove all old (260.99) nvidia driver files. Rebooted.
2. Installed 285.38 drivers. Rebooted.
3. Installed SLIpatch 1.5beta. Rebooted.
4. Installed 285.38 modded drivers. Rebooted.

I have 2xGTX280 cards. I tried using the 285.27 drivers using the same process, with the same issue, then I went back to 285.38 again, still with the same issue.

Anything I can do to remedy this issue?

So I bought a Asus Crosshair IV Formula because I was planning on getting a 6870 crossfire. I changed my mind and I'm thinking about going for 560 SLI. So is this mod working well enough that I should actually go for it now when I still have the chance to pick another card setup, like let's say 6950 crossfire?

560's is the way to go. mod is great and going to be even better on 10/4 when they release Hypersli no more modded drivers. Just make sure your mobo is compatible....

I've never had a problem with my Crosshair IV Formula with SLIPatch. Worked first time I installed it.

Thanks for this thread,

Just to report working with :
Asus Crosshair IV Formula
2 x Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB OC

Using Nvidia driver 280.26 and SLI Hack 1.5
I have also to use mod for drivers in order to remove flickering.

Now everything works fine and performance seems ok!
