Just for the record, dont grab SLi GTX460s and expect to be able to use them in non sli boards, had to remove my Crosshair III and replace with a M4A98TD - I bought the GTX460s without knowing nay of the above when they first came out

Yup, its been discussed before. Should research before buying, hence why I went w/ the gtx 470 (and they were on special too). you need drivers 258.xx for the gtx 460 and the hack is not compatible w/ it yet.

I couldnt research before buying, i had them before the day of release (I work at a PC shop), just didnt expect Nvidia to take away a large part of their market by doing this (a lot of GTX295s are doing this too so more fool them)

It's the patch with the drivers man, it's not nVidias fault. Standard SLI works fine.. xdevs need to update the patch.

nvidia has a driver archive, it will list which cards are supported by that driver.

That's really counter-productive, they just lost 2 x GTX460 sales. Now I'll just have to buy Red as I'm not going to change my MB, CPU and Ram.

Effectively just pushed me into Red's hands unless the hack is up and running shortly.

keep in mind this hack is not costing you or any one attempting it anything. As with most community efforts it takes time, read the hack site:

but remember, this is free project, maintained only when there is free time, so be patient to wait some time.
If you are in need of sli w/ the gtx460, imo, buy an sli certified board -OR- go w/ the gtx470/480 or anything before these two as the hack works w/ them.

if your willing to wait, should be out soon.

as far nvidia, they are really looking protect their business, sli certification does cost board makers and nvidia will not support any board that its not certified, hence why drivers are probably gonna be trickier to hack. but these guys seem like they would have no issue doing it, just need time

Good thing I read this last page before attempting anything. Just got my 465 installed with the 258.xx drivers and about to try this out on my X38 board.
