Yes so true and I see every ones point believe me I do.

However my point is this which you may not be understanding. Nvidia is protecting there investments and such in a way that requires any one to pay for their technology in order to be able to use SLI just like you have to pay for Windows to use it. If you don't pay for windows then technically your not suppose to use it either right or am I missing something here

Now you can't run a copy of say XP on really old hardware especially XP Pro X64. and thus you have to pay to upgrade the hardware to run newer technology. M$ is making way more money than Nvidia yet people want to hate on Nvidia for protecting what's rightfully theirs.

Let's just agree that this topic can go back and forth for hours and no one will win the argument K.

260.xx drivers do NOT work in SLI.

I'm going BACK to i7/x58 Crossfire/SLI boards are decent priced nowadays!

nvidia owns the sli technology and are given royalties when board manufacturers use it. this hack is technically infringing on their proprietary technology and right to royalties.

i just got a gtx 480 and was considering getting another one for gta4 and sli. I knew their was a sli mod for my ep45-ud3p, but now all I'm reading is about how its going to crash with the lastest drivers. I'm running the new 260.52 drivers now. I noticed their was two ways to enable sli on a non sli motherboard on that russian website. Is it possible the alternitive one might work. Seems weird that sli shows up as enabled and kinda works. Seems like it might be a power managment issue, maby their is something in the graphics card bios we can change like perminently disabling downclocking and voltage changes. So everything from an 8800gt to a gtx 9800 to a gtx 285 to a gtx 480 crashes with this sli mod and the latest drivers?

Yes, every card crashes with the latest drivers above 257.12 - thats why i bought a new boared, the only card that sitn compatible with 257.12 drivers was the GTX460, which I have, so just bought a M4a98TD EVO and havent looked back (native SLi)

go to nvidia and click on the archived/old drivers area, download driver 257.21 its the latest driver supported by the hack, your gtx 480s will work w/ that. I experimented w/ 258.xx when it came out and it too crashed a lot. 257.21 has been stable for over a month for me now. It sucks that you cant use the latest drivers and thus any advantage it gives you.

I may have to completely change my setup and go intel. I really love the value that is AMD chips, but I seem to be having quite a large bottleneck with my 955 @ 3.8 GHz. It just isn't cutting it.

Well, those on am3, asus is about to release the Crosshair IV Extreme w/ the "lucid" chip that supports both crossfire and sli. So if you already have an am3 setup, this might be best alternative to have certified sli and use the latest drivers. I'm too heavily invested in my setup and I want a board that supports a waterblock, specifically from ek. I might go intel too unless a block is developed for the CHIV Extreme.
