HOWTO: SLI on a non-SLI Motherboard (GTX5xx compatible 1.0 final released!) - Page 47

still the issue coming out of sleep and causing start up recovery to kick in on every reboot. this only happens w/ the new patch, the beta patch, and new drivers. Im still using the old patch and drives 257.21. Right now, my rma gtx 470 is crapping out and Im ready to send it back and I might get an i7 mb soon. so Im not too worried about running the latest patch since Im switching, soon, I hope . Thank for your help, and from tpu forums too

edit: another insult to injury, pulled the second card for rma, chose the regular windows startup option, bsod. did start up repair, even safe mode bsod. reformat and running latest drivers w/ the good card and everything is back. This patch has been more head aches than anything, I can' wait to get native sli

Thanks for your answer Wermad. I guess you had back luck with this "journey"

Afaik, before booting into "regular" startup option, is a must to disable sli in ncp under the patch profile, otherways it will bsod when starting windows under normal profile.

Kind Regards as always

For some reason this hack is just not working for me any more... I don't know what the heck is going on but my system hangs randomly for now apparent reason like right after log on or right after I enable sli etc etc. I changed power supplies and that's not the problem. I ran memtest 86+ ver: 4.10 all night and it came back clean w/no errors so that should tell me my ram and cpu are good right? I'm at a total loss at this point. I am using the MSI 790FX-GD70 to type this atm but w/out any Nvidia drivers loaded. Once I install any Nvidia drivers and reboot the system starts acting all stupid almost like it knows it's not suppose to run like this or something.

Any one have any idea's or suggestions for me?

the bsod happened after the latest windows update, any one had that update too and got the bsod? and in the past I was able to choose the normal windows option on startup to run one card, I actually troubleshot my rma card like that and it went fine (the testing)

I'm not sure on this but I speculate that Nvidia is getting very clever and preventing the sli hack.

I also had a problem w/my sli set up after running a windows update for malicious software. Ever since doing that update I have not been able to run the GTX 460 on my MSI 790FX-GD70 w/any of the 3 drivers. I am at a loss here as to what could of happened.

I have not tried a different bios yet as I was told to do by a Nvidia Tech support guy and I have not tried a different HDD yet just incase some type of code was written into my HDD firmware from the last M$ update and I'm really getting irritated at the lengths Nvidia will go to make sure we can not use SLi on non SLi Certified mobo's.

I am going to try to update my bios to the latest 1.F as I was told by MSI that it has some wording that says that it supposedly offers better hardware support.

I'm under the impression that Nvidia Drivers are now set up to detect bios code in order to prevent the SLi hack.

Call me wacky but that's my .02¢ on this whole SLi hack stuff.

So I'm going to try the 1.F bios and if that don't allow me to use the GTX 460 in a non sli fasion then I'm gonna be calling both Nvidia & MSI for a solution. Seriously I can't use a single GTX 460 on my mobo if I install the drivers. If I uninstall the drivers the system will work fine w/the exception of not being able to do the things that require GPU drivers.

Is there a reason why there are zero P55 boards in the OP's compatibility list?

No, afaik P55 would work as any other mb chipset.

Q:Will this mod work on my ASUS XXX-XXX / Gigabyte YYY-YYY / Vendor Z model AAA-BBB-CCC motherboard to get SLI?
A: We don't give any 100% guarantee, but as far almost all motherboards which have two PCI-Express slots can do SLI. Only correct ID reports to videodriver and physical ability to drive all videocards from single hub/complex is necessary to make SLI technology enabled. There are some rare cases, when even mod from this article wouldn't help, by we have no such cases yet.

Well after a pretty lengthy chat w/both Nvidia and MSI I decided to update my bios to the latest version. So I am now on BIOS Ver: 1F and I think we all know what the F stands for

Any way I was able to use the 460's on my board again with the WHQL drivers installed but every application I try to run while having sli enabled causes bsod's "IRQ not less than or equal to" BS. So I'm going to try a beta driver that I have 160.63 and see if it works w/that driver. If not then I am out of options and don't see this working for me either unless some one else has one of the beta 460 drivers that I can use prior to them fixing or preventing the sli hacked drivers.
