HOWTO: SLI on a non-SLI Motherboard (GTX5xx compatible 1.0 final released!) - Page 57

I agree with Wermad...

I don't think my problem is that the hack isn't working. I think it's that my system is recognizing the 2nd video card at all...

I can get each video card, individually, to work in both PCIE slots. Everything boots find and looks fine.

However, when I put them both in my system isn't recognizing the 2nd card... It's not in device manager, nor is it in GPU-Z.

I'm still trouble shooting I'll let you know how it goes.

I downloaded this driver version -->260.99 for GTX 470's
Ran the latest SLI Patch. And nothing. The NVIDIA control panel doesn't have SLI option, nor is GPU-Z recognizing a 2nd card.

I've booted separately off of both cards, but when they are both together my rig is only recognizing one card. I have a feeling if I can get the system to recognize both cards the SLI patch "might" work.

Thanks

*** I have an approved RMA for the motherboard to exchange it for a motherboard that has SLI. But everything I've read says if I can get this motherboard to work it would be much better then buying an Nvidia chipset mobo.
This happened to me on the ep45-ud3p a few pages ago, just go into control panel->device manager when you have both cards plugged in. You should see an extra 'VGA display adapter' or something to that affect. Update that driver and it should find your second gtx470, then restart and it should ask you if you want to enable sli

In device manager under display adapters, there is only one thing. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470. No generic, nothing else. Just that one thing.

I'm about to call ASUS tech support and see if they can help me. They're probably going to blame it on something else though....

Just got off the phone with ASUS. Tech stated... "It sounds like you have a faulty PCI controller, which is not allowing the system to see both devices. There should be nothing extra you have to do for the system to read both devices. Just RMA it to Newegg and get a new one."

Fun. Returning a motherboard sucks!

Oh well.

Both mine are detected, Just when I go to enable SLi it disables both cards in device manager and won't re-enable them.

Seriously man, you need to check my post a few pages back, same everything happened to me.

It won't show up under display adapters, it'll be under something random. I had to go into my bios and tell it to boot to the second pcie slot first, then it showed up under device manager as something weird, I jus happened to notice cuz it was the 6th time I tried to make it work, updated the driver and restarted and voilÃ*.

If both cards work separately you know they're good, and you can test each pcie slot individually too, if it shows up separately you don't need to RMA as that's not your problem, it's something to do with 2 470's, but I guarantee if you try these few things and carefully go over everything in device manager, you'll get it working

what he said, any news on anybody getting the 570/580 series to work with this?

I think i read that Ragingcain couldn't get his 580's to work but was in communication with the DEV team to see what could be done?

In any case, i will be getting a couple 570's early next week and i will be trying to get them running using this patch. Currently using it to run 2x260's on a crosshair iv extreme and works without any issues.

Will report back sometime next week once i get the 570's in place.

This may have been unique to my board (ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme) or the 580s. When I hear something (patch released) I will post info / link.
