Barb sealant?

Thread Starter
Anybody have any recommendations for sealing the barbs on the waterblock? Would Teflon tape be efficient or would welding them with an epoxy be better?
I'm not so sure about an indefinite seal seeing as if a barb ever cracks and needs replacing.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for shopping with us.
Please be sure you use a sealant on the threads in your kit when installing the apogee block. I've had one feedback thus far where the customer tightened the barbs down, relying on the o-rings only to seal the barbs. They did not seat all the way, and his system leaked.

Go to Home Depot and ask for #5 Hose clamps, they work great. Zip ties are just as effective. I am pretty sure that your kit comes with some plastic ones, but they aren't very good.

*I see your order, don't waiste your time with a chipset cooler! It ruins your pressure... Try to return it.

I just finished up re-sealing my barbs on my res with teflon tape. They leaked all over my DVD-RW that I got for X-mas, thank God I saw it before it leaked into the molex socket. Use teflon, and if you can find them, the rubber O-rings, 1/2" diameter.

Thanks for the info. Chipset cooler is a heatsink and fan combo. I'm only running water to the CPU block. I am debating on modding the pump as well. I read a piece on this specific pump where the original inlet barb was sealed up and a new barb was placed on the top of the pump housing which decreased resistance on the return flow. According to the data it increased flow by 70%. As far as the barbs on the block, it looks like silicone sealant might be the best way to go. I happen to have some on hand specifically for my fish tank so it sounds appealing.

Do the pump mod, dont debate. Ive heard from a few people that it works great.

I believe Transonic did it,you can ask him if you have any questions.
