I have a question that maybe someone could help me with. I have an Asus and a Diamond 5850 running in crossfire. I am running them right now at 775/1050. I tried to use AB and mod the config file so I could overclock them but I kept getting a blue screen and the system rebooted. I wasn't thinking till I read everyone of the post here, and now I wonder if I was getting the BSOD because of CCC and AB running at the same time. I disable the CCC, but didn't go to MSCONFIG and disable it there and reboot. so It probably was running in the background.

When I ordered my Diamond card it showed me a pic of what should be a reference card but what I got wasn't the same. It had the fan in the center with more of a shroud cover instead of the box look of the other cards and the fan in the end. Is there a postive way to know if the card is a Reference card or not?

Can I just ask what this means, from the first post in the thread?:

DISCLAIMER: Do this at your own risk. This guide is for REFERNCE 5850's only Doing this on non-reference boards is almost guaranteed to brick your card. DONT DO IT.

I don't know what a reference 5850 means, so I don't know if I've got one. Does it mean it absolutely has to be a 5850, and not a 5870 (or some other variation that isn't exactly 5-8-5-0) ?

I notice that on this download page it matches my card identically (except mine has "OC" in it's name). I've only had this (new) card for about 2 weeks, and I see that the BIOS on that download page was from July last year. Would I be downgrading my BIOS with that?

Your card is not a reference model, do not flash it you will brick it. I know because I have the same card.

Thanks a lot fashric, you saved me a lot of hassle. I was really expecting the opposite answer actually. Still not sure what reference means, but it's not important. I guess I'm stuck with using the AMD GPU Tool each time I boot to set my clocks. I wish I could automate it.

Thanks again fashric. So although mine is not a reference design, they wanted to say that it's overclockable anyway (hence the OC in the name). It all makes sense now

The OC in the name means it actually comes already overclocked from the manufacturer. The GPU core is clocked to 765Mhz on your card vs the standard clock of 725Mhz on the reference design. These cards actually do not overclock as well as most reference cards because they lack voltage control which rules out being able to up the voltage on the cards.

Would this card work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=GV-R585OC-1GD with this bios? http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/7...24.100609.html because d4005 and I have the same card.
