Just out of curiosity, is this a BIOS you built in RBE or does it come standard with a particular vendor's 5850?

It is a normal 5850 unlocked bios. I didn't edit it with RBE.

how do you know if one's card is reference or non-reference? i'm experiencing graphical problems that have been pretty much tracked down to my xfx 5850, and i'm just on the verge of flashing the vbios trying to get them fixed.

so far my vbios version is the same as the latest version for 5850 out there. any advice on how to proceed?

EDIT: my card looks like the reference ones from http://www.overclock.net/ati/705075-...ence-card.html but i haven't been able to tell whether or not the amd logo is present, as it is already plugged in.

This post does a good job of explaining reference vs. non-reference. Flashing a non-reference card is not advised and has a high potential to brick your card.

that post tells less than the link i posted. i just wanted to know if there's any way to checking the reference without checking for amd logo, as it is not possible right now.

just to clarify - my card looks like the 'batmobile' card

As long as it has the standard "Phoenix" a.k.a. "Batmobile" cooler, which you said your card does, you have a reference model. Have fun flashing and tell us how it goes.

it flashes just fine; however the problem i was attempting to solve didn't get solved. as much as i hate to advertise something, if anyone can offer at least some help here, i'd be much obliged: http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...in7-64bit.html
