Memory Timings/ Voltages - Page 2

Use the pre-built bootable ISO and burn it with Nero, that's fine.
If your memory is unstable at stock (like mine was) try giving it a bit more voltage or downclock the speed OR loosen the timings until you get stability; some RAM can get really far with the clock, but can't accept tight timings, some RAM can go the other way; not fast, but with tight timings.
You'll have to figure out that one

Could the amount of RAM I have affect the timings? Because I have 4 pieces of memory and the suggested settings were 8-8-8-24@1.65v yet those timings did not work out to be stable for me. Maybe because they were meant for a 2 piece kit and not 4?

It is possible, make sure you don't mix up the pairs though, they're specially matched... You could have issues with the 4 slots populated, you could try using only two. That's a good start

From a technical point of view, 4 sticks should work at those timings too, maybe you need to force it a bit more though.

Also try getting the voltage up to 1.7v, it could fix your issue.

Waiting for news from you.

They are specially paired? That could be my problem! How can I make sure each RAM is in it's proper spot?

EDIT: Didn't see your post above, will play with bios tonight and post with results!

Alright!
As for proper slots, it's colored, pretty obvious.

Although if you mixed up your RAM sticks, I don't know how you'd find which one is which... but I don't it's that much of a deal, you'll maybe loose 0.000001% performance

Yes, you burn it on a CD/DVD it doesn't really matter, you just make sure it's bootable and that you don't copy/past the ISO file but actually burn the image.

For the Kingston memory on this part number : MEM-2GBDDR31333-K
It should be running on Cas9 so somewhere around 9-9-9-24/26 rate at 1.5v

Well I have 4 of the same RAM sticks taking up all 4 of the slots on my motherboard. So, if they were mismatched would it be paired with another of the same ram automatically or does it have to be specifically the manufactured pair? How can I find out if they are properly paired? Or if dual-channel is enabled? I checked my bios today and there wasn't an option for enabling dual channeling.

Also, I have been playing around with both my memory and my CPU. I tried out simply by increasing my CPU multiplier to x19 which brought my processor to 3.8ghz. I also changed my RAM timings to 8-8-8-24 @ 1.695 and both changes caused my system to be unstable. Any suggestions for the memory OC? I'm still reading up on CPU overclocking, seems easy enough with a BE processor.

Hi, i am just a newbie in OC world (not real noob) and i have a question about RAMs. I have GEIL DDR2 dual channels, 4 sticks and they are originaly branded with 800MHz and 5-5-5-15 timings. I dont realy understand this timing-thing, but i managed to stabilize my system on 3,8GHz on CPU and when i wanna go further (4GHz), my system crashes (at load or when lucky, after 15sec in small FFts in orthos). I think it might me with memory timings, so can you make some points about DDR2s and proper timings for them?THX much
