When I click details is says the floowing file will be included

I used ot get that and never new what was really going on, something is giving a program a problem and then it needs to close, I just did a windows repair which doesnt take all that long and it seemed to be fine, I put it down to some driver problems.

I just a did clean install of Windows XP pro (the OEM cd) without the SP2 slipstream and so far everything is ok. I'm watching the computer very carefully as I install the Windows updates, so see if SP2 is causing the problems.

Everytime I install an update, I run add/remove programs to see when what is acausing the error.

Everyting is fine now. I'm about to install SP2...here goes.

SP2 is causing the problems! Right after I installed sp2, I cannot go to ad/remove programs and I get the rundll32.exe error. right before I installed sp2, it worked fine.

Start->Run->msconfig

On the Start Up tab that starts with rundll32? (There are probably a few - list them.)

You downloaded a more recent driver recently?

Edit:
I am confused on a point... SP2 slipstream? You built your own?

Edit2:
Posting content of the .txt file could help
Or the .mdmp or .dmp that also appears.

This error basically means that something caused an exception. It could be a turd entry in startup - a bad application - bad driver - corrupt Windows file.
I have never seen Windows haul off and just start on its own. (I am better a new driver package - or combination of startup items..

Maybe something is crapping on appwiz.cpl (which is the control panel icons.)

Your SP2 install - is it a CD or a download? Could just try removing old appwiz.cpl, extract a new one in and re-register it.
