Upgrade or convert?

Thread Starter
I can either upgrade my 2.4c northy to a 3.0E prescott (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116171) and hope for an OC of 3.6-3.9 with a big typhoon. $189.99

OR

Sell my 2.4c Northy,Asus p4p800se, and eVGA 6800 AGP in order to convert to AMD and run a 148 opty, DFI LP UT NF4 Ultra-D, and 6800gs pci-e (or better). $565

I'm thinking I could probably get around $90 for the 2.4c northy, $150 for my 6800, and $60 for my mobo which would give ~$300 credit towards the AMD setup. I dunno, I'm just pulling numbers off the top of my head.

What do you guys think??? Ideas? I dont even know if the performance gains would be enough to switch AMD after going through the hassle of selling my old setup.

upgrade imo
Personally I would go for a complete make-over and upgrade to an AMD Opty. They run cooler and are easier to overclock (apparently). Personally I prefer AMDs to Intels, especially after being an Intel customer for my entire life.

It may be more expensive, but it's worth it!

Go the AMD way, the cpu and overall package just seems to have the edge on their competition at the moment and it is a little bit cheaper too (here anyway). In a years time things could be different but at the moment you cant go wrong with any AMD cpu you buy (64)

upgrading save you money.... but you already have a great system (besides the CPU) so go AMD if you got the cash

well for starters it is a well known fact that AMDs are better for gaming than Intels, where-as Intels are better in multi-tasking than AMDs. Don't go asking me for proof because you won't find any from me verbally...just go buy one and find out.
