win200 BSOD sys32

OK my mum and dads PC has been getting the BSOD. Boot up it oes to win2000 screen then straight into BSOD saying cant locate Sys root sys 32 SOFTWARE. Any suggestions?
I have tried last known good config and safe mode. Neither worked.

It i have to reinstall the question remains how do I back up outlook express content such as addresses and received emails.

Thats an important System file which is obviously missing..as you cant seem to login without getting BSOD you can just repair the file so i reccomend a full re-install of windows.
