hitting wall, no reason why - Page 3

That voltage reading is normal for DFI's, my cpuz reads that much lower also on any setting I choose. I would say it's just your cpu, they aren't the greatest Overclockers, it's very possible you got a bad overclocker, which seems to be the case seeing that you increased voltage and it's starting to get stable...
I'm sure you are getting close to the limit on air...2.3 isn't bad, that's a 500mhz overclock...hell, my last newcastle 3000+ needed 1.65v to run 2400, that's only 400mhz for that voltage...
Dont bother with your psu, it's fine...your memory is out of the equation, just make sure you have your HTT multi in check and everything else.
You are just at the wall....unfortunately

I had the same problem, and that was caused by the RAM(Gail value crap!). It could not keep up even if I used a RAM divide. Swapped to TCCD RAM, and now I can actually go higher without RAM divider than with RAM divider. I can not figure out what is causing this, anyone else had this problem?

your memory has nothing to do with the cpu overclock....You could give me the crappiest ram in the world, and it wouldn't have an affect on the cpu max.

Thread Starter
well at 2995 mhz i ran prime for 1.5 hours last night. I think ill just up the voltage one more setting and it should be fine at that. Since I just canceled my 360 preorder i got around $480 back so maybe i could invest in some ocz platinum revision 2 and see what I can do with that just for the hell of it. Even if i cant get my cpu to go higher at least ill have my ram running 1:1 at 255 fsb, which isnt that bad I guess.
