Ok I downloaded a few older BIOSes and I get the same message on all of them. I also get the same messages when I tried to do it with a boot disk. Something is not right.

Yes I know about renaming the file extension. That was what I did the first few times but through the course of troubleshooting I have tried doing it both ways. Nothing is working.

Anyone have any ideas??? I cant think of anything else to try. Please read the entire thread before sugesting a fix.

Thanks guys

Let me ask some questions.

This is directly from the website for your board:
Quote:
Please do read the description before updating BIOS
To avoid crashing file system, please do update the chipset driver to below version prior to this Bios.
For WinXP 32bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.65 or later
For WinXP 64bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.65 or later
For Win2k/2003 32bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.66 or later
For Win2003 64bit system, please download and update chipset drivers V6.66 or later
Did you happen to update your Chipset Drivers yet to v6.65?

If not, lets do that first.
••Download the new chipset HERE and save it to your desktop. Extract the files to a different folder and run the makedisk.exe within the {XP_32} - {pataraid} OR {sataraid}. Once you make your floppy, run the NVUIDE.exe that's on the floppy.

Yeah that was the first thing I did before even trying to Flash the first time.

I just found within the ASUS Forums the solution to your problem. Many people have had your issue of the program not detecting your MOBO.

Here you go! EnJoy!

PROBLEM
Quote:
Well,

My problem is that when I try to install ANY Asus software like Autopudate or AI Tool, the setup tells me I'm not using a Asus motherboard and cancels installation (eventhough I have A8N-SLI Deluxe).

Is there a way to force an installation?
SOLUTION

Here is the fix. Follow it exactly and make sure you re-boot before attempting to install ASUS Update.

Change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Wow6432Node ....TO.... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\aWow6432Node

Please note the difference at the end of each reg entry. The origional is "Wow6432Node". Change to "aWow6432Node". Not sure why ASUS couldn't fix this, but the community did and it works.

Don't forget to re-boot afterwards.

If you need help doing this, let me know.

How do I do it???

I am looking all through the regedit and cant find HKEY_LOCAL
post #19 of 22
Click START -> RUN
Type: REGEDIT
Click OK

(You must be under an administrator login to access all of the registry.)

Within Regedit, simply expand the tree labeled HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then expand Software.

Right-click on Wow6432Node and select Rename. In that dialog box, input aWow6432Node then you can close the program and reboot.

Once you're done rebooting, try to use your BIOSUpdate tool from ASUS again. You shouldn't have an issue. Just be ABSOLUTELY SURE that your chipset is updated to v6.65. If not, the BIOS will fail during the update process and your board will be ruined.
