Well, of course there are going to be game tests in due time, but 3DMark products are well-rounded for the most part. Plus, benchmarking tools don't use optimized code like games do, so for the most part it is fair, unless one of the companies decides to play dirty.

3DMark05 is too easy for these next-gen cards. When video cards start getting 10,000 points on 3DMark05 like it's nothing, then it's time for a new version. 3DMark06 makes more use of DirectX9 features and has even put in HDR, so that should be a real stress test.

Yeah, because June of '05 was such a long time ago, before the 7800GTX, ATI had been top dog for quite a long time!

And negative on the DX10 thing, DX9 only.

EDIT: What do you mean it's not using the X1900XT features? As far as I know 3DMark05 supposrts SM3.0 and all the other DirectX 9.0c goodies. And it's from www.guru3d.com, not The Inquirer (most of it at least, The Inquirer is still a good resource anyway).
sm3.0 in ONE test.

alright i looked at guru3d.com and the only thing i found on the 7900 line was the driver thing from dell

Quote:
Dell just released a ForceWare driver with revision 83.60, and yes .. they have the new control panel. The driver is initially intended for the GeForce Go laptop series. But since these puppies use the same graphics processor .. they should work fine with your desktop graphics card also. The new CP is still a little buggy, but hey its a beta so you can't complain right. This driver set supports some new GeForce Go graphics solutions, check the support list below to see if your card is in there.

New in this driver are:

NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0298.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS"
NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0298.2 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS "
NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0299.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX"
NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0299.2 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX

This driver includes a new modded INF which makes it compatible with all GeForce cards. Please be sure to properly uninstall your current graphics card drivers before installing new ones.

Download - http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1315

so i didnt see the article that you posted on guru3d.com

could you post the direct link?
