N2PAP-LITE Sempron 2800+ Socket A (Overclock)

Thread Starter
I am very confused here... I will give some specs..

Motherboard : N2PAP-LITE
Processor : AMD Sempron 2800+
Socket : A/462
FSB : 166/333mhz
Multiplier : x12
Clock Speed : 166mhz x 12 = ~2ghz

The stock FSB is 333mhz but there is an option to set it to 400mhz. For some reason when you set the FSB in the BIOS it is cut in half, I believe it ends up coming out to double. So I want to set the BIOS to 200mhz which equals 400mhz. When I set it to 400mhz it will not POST so I have to reset the CMOS. It does not make any sense to me and I can't raise the core voltage any higher than 1.7 which is the default. I can lower it to 1.6 but thats about it. It will post with the settings (Clock : 166mhz, DRAM : 200mhz). I figure if they have it in the BIOS it should be able to work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I might have found the problem. I believe that one stick of RAM is PC2700 while the other is PC3200 so it bottlenecks at 333mhz in which the RAM can't keep up with the processor? If I take the PC2700 will I be able to run my computer at 400mhz FSB?

I just looked, both sticks of RAM are ddr400 just different brands. This does not make any sense at all. I also tried to do it with one stick and it still didn't work.

I'm not really sure about this, but I seem to recall that Socket A are somewhat hard to overclock - with volt mods and what not required to overclock anything. If I remember correctly it depends on your production week and mobo.

Can someone elaborate?

I was reading about volt mods and such but if my motherboard supports up to 200/400fsb I don't see why I can't do it especially if my computer is really cool..

Boards usually list frequencies as base rates; 133MHz, 166MHz, 200MHz, etc. Double them and you get the final rates.
Now, as for why it can't post at 200MHz FSB, that could be many things. Most likely it's the RAM not being able to handle it; make sure your RAM sticks are able to run at those frequencies and that the proper voltage and timing values are set. It could also be the CPU itself, since the Sempron 2800+ is not rated for 200MHz; increasing the vcore can resolve this, but since your board is not letting you, then I presume you're out of luck in this regard.
