Unfortunetely that makes no difference because little kids can afford the ds. I think once the price of the psp goes down the sales will go up considerably. It kinda pisses me off to see the psp losing to a toy, but then again nintendo knows what they're doing.
A toy? What? And I dont think the PSP will see any amazing price cuts in the near future. And the DS has graphics slightly better than the N64.

The DS will always cost less than the PSP, though. Assuming the PSP does a typical $20-25 price cut, it will still be $100 more than a DS! Hard to ignore that for most people.

Legos are toys. Barbie dolls are toys. The DS is a game console. If the DS is a toy to you, then so is the PSP, the PS2 and PS3, the Xbox and X360, etc.

Lol yea I knew that would piss someone off. Though it does look like something fisher price might sell. (Just kidding )

But seriously the ds does not have better graphics then a n64. If it's slighty better then anything it's the snes.

Kind of off topic, but I've got 5800 songs, for a total of 27.5 Gb and counting...

Nintendo just decided to make it more affordable so it sold more, and Sony just tried to get into the handheld market and IMO failed pretty badly.. Considering they dont make a profit off of the PSP and its sold alot less than they would want it to. Maybe next-generation Sony will wisen-up on handhelds but for now and likely for as long as portable gaming exists will be king.
The psp is actually extremely impressive. Saying it isn't is just wrong imo, you have to think about heat, the size of the lcd (which takes up the majority of the console) etc. It is a feat of engineering in my eyes. Also about the ds selling well cause it's cheaper, did you stop to think that maybe the games are just plain more fun?

Are you serious? I suggest you do some serious research. The snes was not capable of 3d without an extra video chip that was incorporated on cartridges such a star fox. I seriously suggest you do ALOT more research before making bogus claims which make yourself look not that intelligent and unknowledgable, when you make claims like this in one thread, people tend to remember names and not take your advice in others even if it is in fact true. Also:

that's what the most graphically advanced snes game looked like. Compared to:

Also btw just because nintendo makes consoles affordable to the masses does not make them "kiddy" or "toy like"

I don't know about where you guys live, but at my high school I've seen at least a hundred PSP's. The fact that they have wireless internet, web browser etc. is pretty amazing too. Some people have gotten theirs to connect to various wireless networks in the school.

IMHO, the screen has great graphics. Movies and game cinematic scenes are very good quality, and the games are good too. Compared to my portable DVD player, the PSP is like a plasma screen lol.

And to top it all off, it just looks so darn sexy

I wasnt saying the ds is worse then the snes, just that it falls somewhere between the snes and n64. It doesn't look better then some n64 games like goldeneye and Mario 64.

As I've said you have no idea what you're talking about.

Also, check out the hardware specs for the ds compred to the 64.As I said, the snes is no where no the capabilities of the DS. If anything the ds would fall between a ps1 and 64. And mario 64 for the ds looks arguably better than the 64 as many reviewers have stated, and mario 64 is by far not the best looking ds game. I would have to say nintendogs is.

But we can't forget the actual technical side of Super Mario 64 DS, and at the very least, the developers put on a great first-generation show during the main adventure by demonstrating the DS' 3D and digital audio effects. Even without texture filtering, the Nintendo DS version looks night and day better than the N64 version with much more detailed textures as well as higher polygon models for the characters and level designs. The refresh never strays from its 30 frames-per-second rate, though there are occasional bouts of scenery pop-in distant items. But the system can definitely hold its own with some great effects, like transparencies and the familiar "water ripple" technique when leaping through a painting. The developers even throw a cute little utility in the beginning that shows a cool "vector editor" where players can tweak and stretch their hand drawn artwork.
The ds has 3d capabilities that the 64 simply can't do
