Thread Starter
So my current rig does alright in games and everything else i do. Im getting that upgrade itch and was wondering if this would be a good or any upgrade from were im at now?

cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103846
mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131398
ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148323

**with hope to unlocking as well as overclocking**

and after selling my old cpu, mobo, video card and ram i would have enough for a 5870

I wouldn't do it. Maybe get a faster GFX card but I'd wait for a more substantial upgrade.

yea, i see no reason to "upgrade"
sure u may get some speed ~400mhz or so, but i'm sure 3.6ghz on four cores isn't holding you back anywhere

Save the money.

Buy a 5850 or 5870, a 2nd GTS 250, or wait for Fermi.

You'll regret the Side/downgrade you have planned. And core unlocking isnt guaranteed from what I understand. I wouldn't risk it.

The socket LGA775 is still powerful and will be around for a while (Intel just released new processors for it not too long ago). If you feel like your CPU is lacking, just get a new LGA775.
