Memory choice

Thread Starter
First of all, I'm posting in the AMD section since I'd like to use this memory in my next upgrade (amd conversion).

I've currently got a 2.4c northy that i'm going to upgrade within the next few months to an opty or 3700 san diego. I'm currently using 2x512 Corsair value ram (ddr400) that only OC's to 220fsb. Which memory would you guys recommend I get that will OC my northy (1:1) and still be usable with the opty setup to come?? I'll need to achieve atleast 260fsb, if not more.

I'm thinking I'll need to get some high quality ddr400 or some mid range ddr500?

I was hoping to find something under $175 or so?

Thanks in advance guys

Actually, my mobo only supports ddr400 which means i'd have to go with that type of ram, correct? Or could I slap some ddr500 in the mobo and still OC it to 260fsb? I'm such a memory noob

I'm curious as to why my cheapo ddr400 only OC's to 220fsb and other ddr400 can reach 280fsb? Seems strange, but whatever. Obviously qualtiy plays a role in how far something can overclock, but that is a huge difference.
