Opteron 144 Vcore

Thread Starter
Hey everyone.

I had my Opty 144 stable at 2.8ghz, but with a vcore of about 1.65. I figured this wasn't really safe, so I'm trying to get it stable with a lower vcore. In the mid 1.5s, I fail prime after two hours. Anything else I can do to get stable? My RAM is on a divider to a safe level, and passes memtest. Raising my Chipset voltage doesn't seem to help at all.

Thanks
Amped

See what vcore you can be prime stable at 2.7-2.75. You should be happy with that....that's almost a 1,000 mhz overclock, lolzzz....just use the 2.8+ for benchmarking.
Not bad for an inexpensive chip

Yeah but I want my 2.8! I'll keep trying. That's what this is all about, no?

Every system varys as does the method of OCing.
Try an initial vcore of 1.45
VID 1.375 x Vid spec % 113 = 1.55 or
Vid 1.4 x Vid Spec % 111 = 1.54 or
Basically something that equates to mid 1.5ish
Or even a factor of high 1.4ish

1. Find the max stable speed of the RAM by reducing the CPU x to 7x, work up the HTT and test the RAM!
2. Set a stiff divider on the RAM and find the max stable speed of the CPU.
Those methoods take the opposing factor out of the equasion.
So , once you have the speeds, input them into
http://math.gogar.com/athlon64.cgi
and see what the options are for RAM dividers, HTT etc and take note of the last coulme for "less is better" which interperts the timing combinations and the relative effency of the system.
Of course I've not even gotten in to the fine points of RAM.
What brand/ chip type and what BIOS ver and coresponding slot to use. Furthermor, the timing settings, which I'm not all that great at, yet, simply because of the difficulties and time required to find the best options.
623-3 for tccd and Micron/Crucial in the Orange slots... 623-2 for all others and yellow slots.
Make sure all 4 power connectors are installed... shown in ncsa's post...

Also... the LDT or memory controler voltage should be increased to aprox 1.3v and the Chipset voltage to 1.5v
