I would be afraid to go over 1.6 although 1.5v to me is a little more comfortable. I think I'll try to get to 2.8 or so stable and quit, even if that means using 2.55vcore
I got a CAB2E 0548 last week.

Here's a link to my memory from Newegg:

It definitely has the UCCC chips in it. The specs call out for 2.6v to 2.8v. You're saying maybe use 2.5v?

So you've heard good things about OC'ing the CACJE stepping?

I'll try these settings tomorrow. I'm at work right now. Thanx!

OFF TOPIC!!! welcome conqst99 to overclock.net. listen carefully to what tytlyf tells u, he helped me with my 148.

Hi AC -
You're lucky to get a CAB2E. A friend of mine over at PlanetAMD64 also got one of those from Newegg about 2 weeks ago. I just ordered an Opt 148 3 days ago and got the CACJE. I don't know how its gonna clock though. From talking to people here on this forum and a few others, I had the mem divider set to 250 in the BIOS instead of 200 to run 1:1 for PC4000 and vdimm was set too high. I'll have to experiment more tomorrow but 2.8 will be good enough for me.

Yeah, he sounds like he really knows his stuff. There are so many helpful people on this forum! I've had such better luck posting oc questions here than on any other forum. I've been using PlanetAMD64 and the MSI OC Forum (specializing in my Neo4-F board for all MSI users), but this forum has great people who are willing to help without sarcasm.

It seems many of the Opty Retail are shipping with CAB2E lately as are OEMs showing up as CACJE.
From what I've been seeing, most Optys like high1.4 to mid 1.5v.

A general rule for all newbies everywhere is to understand these basic settings in your BIOS first.....they might be worded differently, but these are the most used settings with any overclock. Make sure you figure out what is what in your BIOS!!

FSB/HTT speed........by default should be 200
CPU multiplier........depends on your cpu, looks like x9, x10, or x11....etc..
HTT Multiplier.......very important, numbers like x5, x4, x3....
Vcore (cpu voltage).......varies from 1.35 up to 1.7+
Memory timings (DRAM configuration).....usually a sub-directory of where your cpu settings are.
Memory Divider (Max memclock frequency)......very important for overclocking, numbers look like 400,333 or 200,166 or 1:1, 5:4...multiple options
Memory voltage (VDIMM)......usually starts at 2.6v, can go up to 3.8v on some boards.

Learn these basic settings and what name they are called in your bios. Each bios has different names for the same thing.

So when someone recommends some settings for you when overclocking, you will know what we are talking about without having to explain anything in detail....

I know you might be able to find them for a few bucks cheaper elsewhere, but I got my 148 in a box from Newegg last week, if yer lucky they still got the same stepping in stock.

Except for my dumb voltage hungry chip.

1.595 to be stable at 2752mhz. Grrrr...
