I'm Bored and Broke, I Need Help Finding Something To Do! - Page 5

Dumpster diving and scoring stuff from Craigslist free section is always time well spent. Learning how to use basic hand tools well is a good start. How to properly size and use screwdrivers, how to sand, wet sand, use hand saws and knives, how to carve, how to prime and paint, how to finish wood... all good basic skills. Move up to power drills, sanders, jigsaw. Those you can't get into too much trouble with unless you're being completely stupid.

It all comes down to what you like to do. Are you artistic? Do you sketch well? Can you use drawing tools like rulers, straightedges, triangles, compass? Do you paint? Can you follow instructions? Are you the type of personality with a short or long attention span? Do you have a good attention for detail and getting things perfect? Kind of hard to make realistic recommendations without getting to know your personality better.

Dumpster diving is good. Focus on school. Get smart. Read books. Excercise. Help you parents out with things. Draw. Paint. Stack rocks. Fold paper.

You dont need a Domain name to learn web programming and design.
It work I spend a lot of time building sites/pages in a Virtual site based on one of our servers.

Set up a VM on the computer you just ordered, and configure it to be a little host for you to test the sites you build.

My advice?
Focus on school more than on hobbies like this until you are in college.
Then get a major that is in line with your hobby.

Im in Computer Engineering, which fascinates me so I like doing the hard work, but I still have my hobbies of Music Creation, Web Programming, and System Design as separate things.
Helps to not make fun feel like work.

You don't need to be good at math to be a programmer! (There you go - your first lesson in programming biggrin.gif )/
Learn Linux - then make your own from the ground up
Learn a musical instrument
Learn a martial art
Improve your math skills by googling for math tricks.
Become a card shark
Learn Mandarin - possibly the business language of the not-too-distant future.

EDIT - DOH! How did I miss the start date?
