i had 2 x 512mb and playing bf2 was pants
got another 512mb and plays great now
so if 2 sticks was dual mode and 3 sticks put it back to single mode
well in game i would rather have single mode.
Socket 754 motherboards and processors don't support dual channel to begin with, so it's not an issue.
Sufianke, yours is Socket A, we're talking Socket 939. Socket A dual channel boards can run dual channel with three modules because the controller can split the banks up evenly. Socket 939 memory controllers cannot.
It depends on what you do. Games like BF2 which are memory pigs will be happier with 1.5GB of RAM, even if you have less bandwidth by losing dual channel. Other things will benefit more from the extra bandwidth of dual channel than the extra storage of 1.5GB. Keep your new stick, but try to get another as soon as possible so you can have both 2GB and dual channel.
