Video upgrade inspiron 2650

I'm new to this forums and I just wanted to know if anyone knew the max. memory that a video card in a dell inspiron 2650 could have? It comes with a 16mb which is really weak, I was hoping I could get at least 64mb but all I've found is 32mb.

Most laptop's video cards are not upgradable. It sounds like yours isn't, call Dell and ask em' just to make sure. And if it is upgradeable, dell will charge you like $700 including installation for a 6800 Go.

Which video card does your 2650 have?
Ours has the Gf2 Go video card, it does support 1024x768 32bit and looks good.
Not much in options other than this setting.
Dell does not show any video card upgrades to this laptop.
However I have had the video card out of our 2650 and it is a very simple component.
Does not look anything like a desktop video card in any respect.
It is maybe 1.5" x 1.2" with a plug on one side to plug onto the mobo.
It has one small cable attached to it also. I believe this video card would be upgradable, just depends if you could find anyone that is knowledgable about what will fit.

Go to Dell.com and go to the area where you look at your original configeration for your system. Look on the back side of the system case, write down the service tag #. You will need to place this # into the proper box, then the specs for your system will be shown. This will not enclude anything that has been added since the shippment from Dell. Since you have never changed the video card, it will show the one that was ordered when new.
What is in my laptop was thier std video back then.

A video card that looks like what is in a desktop is nothing like what is in the 2650. This may be something you would need to contact dell, to see if there was any upgrades. If you could find out what make and model # would be for an upgrade, this would be helpful.

The Dell 2650 (I have two) came with a few video cards. The standard GeForce2/Go had 16Mb vRAM. There was a version of that card (sold as an option) that had 32 Mb vRAM. I use the 32Mb one to run some pretty intense 3D stuff and it does well under DX9.0c

These are chep cards. I suggest you check out bay-wolf.com for a list of Dell parts and then google athe part to find one. Servicing these laptopns is easy too.

If you are interested in this 32mb video card for the 2650 here is a link.

http://www.parts-people.com/index.ph...6&prevstart=15

This is the best laptop parts place to purchase at a reasonable price.
This is a direct link to the 32mb video card for the 2650.
I would love to have one myself.

My sony only came with an ATI Mobility Rage 8mb. Terrible. But then again, I don't play games on it, but I might if I could upgrade. The GPU is integrated into the motherboard.

I havent really looked inside the 2650 but from what I've seen of the video card and pics on the net I think its just a little screw that holds the card in place, but I'm not sure

I should be able to use the same heat sink with a different video card it looks like there 2 different peices. I looked at the cards on the web sites and there kind of expensive, I've seen ones on ebay for 20$ granted only one was 32mb and nothing was higher than that

Woah I was looking around that website and I found this http://www.parts-people.com/index.ph...6&prevstart=30 it says compatable with 2650 but
i've always seen that one memory slot can only hold 256mb for a total of 512, maybe its just BIOS limitation, do you think that it would really work, it could seriously supercharge my laptop.
